Using Google Code now for Issue Tracking

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I’ve moved our issue tracking system from FogBugz to Google Code.  You can see the issue tracker here:

http://code.google.com/p/idealbbnet/issues/list

I really like Google Code’s issue tracker and it is of course free to use.  I’m probably going to move the Wiki over as well and then maybe some day in the near future the code too.   I’ve been having a lot of thoughts about open sourcing Ideal BB.NET so if and when I bite the bullet and do it, it will go into this project.

Subscription issues in Ideal BB.NET 3.1.6.

Friday, September 7th, 2007

One customer reported that they were having some issues with the subscription feature on Ideal BB.NET version 3.1.6.  Specifically they said that if they had multiple people subscribed to a single topic and a new reply was added to that topic, multiple emails would be sent out to those subscribed users.

Are any of you experiencing this issue?

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about subscriptions lately and I think there needs to be a daily digest option where all emails can be sent out in a digest format.  A feature like this would require a SQL job or some kind of Windows service to periodically send out those kinds of emails.  Is this a feature that you folks would be interested in?

[UPDATE]
We did in fact have a bug in subscriptions which I just fixed for the next release.  If you are having this problem and need a quick fix, send me an email and I’ll shoot you over the fix.

Ideal BB.NET 3.1.6 update.

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Apparently there was an issue with the license files which would cause the demo version to appear expired.  I just uploaded a new version that corrects this problem.  Also, some files were missing in the Ideal Admin folder which have also been uploaded.

Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause you.  If you’ve already installed the software, just replace the idealadmin folder with the one included in the new zip file and drop the *.lic files from the /ibb/bin folder in the zip file into the one on your board.

Web servers moved to NYC.

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

We moved our servers to NYC this week as part of our upgrade to a new data center.  The move is part of our plan to increase the capacity of our hosting & services business.  This business has been rapidly expanding with new customers signing on to have us host and manage their forums.

There could be some minor glitches in our web site as a site effect of the move.  We’ve managed to iron out most issues, but if you have any problems, please contact us so that we can remedy the issues.

For more information about our co-location center please see the Telehouse America web site.

Licensing issue with Windows 2003 & Vista

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

We have several customers that are having a licensing issue when using Windows 2003 in a web farm senario and customers who might be testing our software on Windows Vista.  The issue is a security one that requires that you register the xheo.licensing.dll with the Windows GAL.  Once you do this, licensing should work fine.  This issue only affects Ideal BB.NET.

If you are experiencing this issue and continue to have problems, please contact us.
